Friends of the River Raisin Battlefield Interested in preserving a piece of American as well as Monroe History? Interested in some fun and educational things to do in your own backyard? Interested in helping children learn about their own history? If you are, then think about joining our group, the Friends of the River Raisin Battlefield. You don't have to be a re-enactor to become involved, but if this sounds appealing to you, we can help. We have several different areas that you can fill in. We need volunteers to work with the children and the tours that come through the building and grounds. We need fundraisers and we can use some help with a couple of spruce up projects. And if you want to become a re-enactor and live the history, we can help you there too. We meet the Third Sunday of the month, from September through May. The meeting times are 2:00pm and the location is the River Raisin Battlefield Visitors Center at 1403 East Elm Ave in Monroe Michigan. If you don't have the time for the meetings or events, we could always use your donations. We are a 501C3 organization and are working to preserve a small area of the actual battlefield where the American Army fought, along with the residents of Frenchtown, against the British forces in January of 1813. If you interested in joining or would like more information, please fill out the form below and a member of the Friends of the River Raisin Battlefield will contact you. If you have more questions, please call the Battlefield Visitors Center at 734.243.7136 or the main Historical Museum in downtown Monroe at 734.240.7780. |
